Drury Browne Atelier

London, SW6: my home and the studio of Drury Browne Architects 2000 - 2005.

A new-build project on the site of former stables for the nearby Victorian Thames-side Batey's Brewery (see Batey's and Co. excavated beer bottles, right); more recently used as a builder's storage yard.

A long narrow site with a 7 metre high wall along one side, with former Chelsea College of Art buildings beyond (now Thomas's Day School, Fulham) and many residential neighbours on all other sides, the resulting building incorporated the use of single aspect spaces, roof lighting and concealed balconies and openings.
